Prayer Calendar
We are looking for groups, organizations and religious communities to join our prayer calendar to pray for those who are asking for Dorothy's intercession for a special favor or grace. We are praying for the intentions posted on the Prayer Requests page and for those intentions not posted but being prayed for privately.
We ask for a monthly commitment by choosing either :
a recurring day of the week such as "the 3rd Tuesday of every month"
or
a recurring date such as "the 16th of every month".
And how you fulfill your monthly prayer commitment is your choice. Some examples are: including an intention at morning or evening prayer, gathering for a special liturgy each month, saying a rosary, praying a common prayer together or if your community is spread out, everyone devotes private prayer on your chosen day/date. There are also some sample prayers below the calendar towards the bottom of this page that can be used.
If you want to participate, pick your day and go to the bottom of this page to fill out the form and hit the submit button. You will be posted on the calendar within 24 hours.
Listed here are the groups, organizations and communities represented
on the Prayer Calendar above.
We are grateful for their participation and we look forward to more joining with us.

Prayer For The Canonization
of Servant of God Dorothy Day Merciful God, you called your servant Dorothy Day to show us the face of Jesus in the poor and forsaken. By constant practice of the works of mercy, she embraced poverty and witnessed steadfastly to justice and peace. Count her among your saints and lead us all to become friends of the poor ones of the earth, and to recognize you in them. We ask this through your Son Jesus Christ, bringer of good news to the poor. Amen Distributed by Claretian Publications 205 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606 312-236-7782 ext. 474 editors@uscatholic.org |
Official Prayer for the Canonization
of Servant of God Dorothy Day God our Creator, your servant Dorothy Day exemplified the Catholic faith by her conversion, life of prayer and voluntary poverty, works of mercy, and witness to the justice and peace of the Gospel. May her life inspire people to turn to Christ as their Savior and guide, to see his face in the world’s poor and to raise their voices for the justice of God’s kingdom. We pray that you grant the favors we ask through her intercession so that her goodness and holiness my be more widely recognized and one day the Church may proclaim her Saint. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Distributed by the Dorothy Day Guild of the Archdiocese of New York. |
